With Uplands going through major changes at the current time we have been working to ensure parents and the local community are informed and aware of how and why decisions are being made about the school’s future.
In 2000 the Labour government introduced the Freedom of Information Act, which placed a duty on publicly funded organizations to make key information about how they operate freely available to the public. Over the last few months, the local Labour Party has asked the Governing Body at Uplands Community College to publish its minutes on the school website. Many schools do this as routine, but Uplands has refused. Instead, if you want to see a copy of the governing body minutes, you must arrange an appointment to do this in the school office. We think this is inefficient and limits informed debate on the future of the school.
We have requested and obtained some pdf copies of minutes and in the interests of ensuring openness and transparency we are posting copies here to allow easy access for parents and members of the local community.
